New Orleans native Chef Kevon Lewis is taking over the kitchen at Rojo Birmingham for one night only during Birmingham Restaurant Week presented by Regions Bank! Chef K, who has a food truck stationed in Leeds, is testing the market as she considers taking her Cajun restaurant concept to brick and mortar in Birmingham. A fast-casual dinner full of Cajun flavors will be served between 6 and 9 p.m. - no ticket necessary!
Here's the menu:
Jambalaya - $8
A traditional New Orleans Creole dish in a tomato base with celery, bell peppers and onions blended in rice. A rich and spicy dish.
Red Beans and Rice - $8
Seasoned with garlic, bay leaves, onions and other seasonings served over rice. This dish will take you to New Orleans.
Gumbo - $10
Onions, bell peppers, celery and tomatoes sautéed and blended with chicken, sausage and shrimp into a Creole soup served with rice.
Shrimp Étouffée - $12
A Creole dish rich and colorful in flavor, served over rice with finely chopped vegetables smothered over low heat in a dark roux.
Shrimp Poor Boy - $14
Dressed with special sauce, lettuce and tomatoes and served with french fries.
Cajun French Fries - $7
Spicy house seasoning blended in ranch.
